Humans are unique in the construction and versatility of our hands. Each is an intricate design of tissues, ligaments, tendons, and bones that work together to facilitate many of our life’s tasks. When the hands or wrists display pain when using them, our lives are seriously restricted. Dr. Brett Warfield and his team at TIPI Pain Management in Houston provide cutting-edge regenerative medicine treatments for wrist/hand pain at our pain management clinic, conveniently located in Houston and within a half-hour drive of residents in Cypress, Baytown, and Sugar Land. Treatments at our clinic may include:

Common Causes of Wrist/Hand Pain
Many wear-and-tear conditions can affect the wrists and hands due to their prolific use in virtually everything we do for personal care, work, hobbies, and other tasks for daily living. When pain, inflammation, and restricted movement threaten to derail your life, pain management can successfully relieve pain and restore range of motion and dexterity, allowing you to avoid surgery or other invasive procedures.
Most wrist/hand pain is caused by prolonged use that wears down the cartilage that cushions the many bones in the hand and wrist. Arthritis develops in the hands quite often and can seriously impede their use and your comfort and well-being. Wrist and/or hand sprains and strains are also common injuries. Dr. Warfield can provide several treatments for these conditions to promote healing and restore freedom of movement of the following conditions:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Carpal tunnel syndrome produces a tingling sensation, burning, and pain in the hand and wrist, but primarily in the thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers. This results from the median nerve stretching from the neck to the hand, becoming pinched inside the carpal tunnel. The carpel tunnel is made of bones and tendons and has little room for expansion. Therefore, when an injury, arthritis, or overuse causes these tendons to become inflamed, they can press against the median nerve, causing the condition known as carpal tunnel syndrome. Some treatments you may receive at TIPI Pain Management Clinic include physical therapy, a wrist splint, RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation), changes in routine, PRP therapy, and targeted injection therapy. Dr. Warfield will recommend one or a combination of these or other treatments as part of your customized treatment plan for carpal tunnel syndrome.
Hand Arthritis and Osteoarthritis: The Arthritis Foundation reports that about half of all women and one-fourth of all men will likely suffer from hand osteoarthritis by the time they reach age 85. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent form of arthritis, and the 29 bones of the hand and wrist provide plenty of areas for it to develop. Dr. Brett Warfield at TIPI Pain Management Clinic in Houston approaches arthritis treatment with integrative medicine techniques that have been proven to strengthen remaining cartilage to slow its deterioration.
Hand Sprain/Strain: Stretched or torn ligaments can heal with PRP Therapy, a non-invasive treatment that speeds up the body’s natural healing mechanisms. While there is no cure for arthritis and osteoarthritis, PRP helps Houston patients reduce pain and inflammation and restore freedom of movement to maintain a quality life with these conditions. Many repetitive tasks can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, producing pain and restricted movement. State-of-the-art regenerative medicine techniques can release pressure on the nerves within the carpal tunnel and provide relief without surgery.
